Reported Cases to DAMS Intl. by Patients with chronic health problems who recovered after treating Root Canaled Teeth or Jawbone Cavitations

Between 1976 and 1984, 8 separate studies of patients suffering Trigeminal Neuralgia and Atypical Facial Neuralgia, considered to be untreatable and unresponsive to conventional medical therapies, received cavitation curettement.

There were a total of 450 patients with 547 cavitations . After curettement, 322 were pain free, 99 had significant improvement and 32 did not have improvement. Almost 94% of the patients experienced significant improvement, if not total abatement of their pain. Those studies focused on chronic facial and neck pain, however other parts of the body may be involved.               Dr. C. Hussar    www.curezone.com/dental/dental_neuralgia.asp

Dentistry has far reaching effects on the human body. My experience that took place sixteen years ago, involved a painful elbow that almost ended my dental career. Severe pain would not allow me to reach for dental instruments or extract a tooth that required any strength. An evaluation of my teeth with a Digital Computerized Meter pointed to a dead tooth that had no clinical symptoms. Removal of the tooth relieved the pain in my elbow, and allowed me to continue to practice dentistry. I have repeatedly seen this same experience in variable symptoms of my patients; with  root canals, cavitations , toxins from gingival cervicular fluid metal  and  metal oxide  in  composites , and  dental restorations . My forty-eight years in dentistry with the past twenty-one devoted to  "dentistry health"— —points to the critical health needs not addressed in our dental schools today.      D. Hi, I thought some of you who are new might like to hear something good that spontaneously   happened to me and my tooth from hell. In Jan 2000 my root canal got infected and pulled. It was over 20 years old and had a crown of course. Within days I was getting relief from chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, food allergies. All that remains is chemical allergies, much to my sorrow, but very joyful over the others leaving. That crown had nickel in it and it was right next to a gold inlay. The inlay has been replaced with a composit that was tested safe for me, and I have a flexite 1 tooth bridge (no Metal) for the missing tooth and I love it. There's one crown left thats supposed to be titanium with fake enamel on it.  I had a heavy metal fecal test in Mar 2000, no mention of titanium, but was a little high in nickel and beryllium. Mercury was

very low because I had amalgams replaced about 12 years ago trying to improve my health. I was very ill for 20 years, sometimes in bed for 6 months at a time on and off. In 1991 I started taking Milk Thistle and other herbs using me as a guinea pig because no doctors could help me. I started feeling better and figured

out it was the Milk Thistle so kept taking it.  I was able to work and lead a quiet somewhat normal life if I avoided chemicals, perfume, etc. I'm still taking MT hoping to get rid of the nickel and beryllium, I'm still very alergic to chemicals so I'm afraid of the other chelators. I feel real good, nothing hurts, and it still surprises me when I realize how fast it reversed and how simple it was if only someone had known a  long time ago. I still have hay fever that I had before the root canal and sometimes something I eat will make

me ache, but I feel like I've been set free from hell. I think I will plant MT in my flower garden and build it a shrine too. It really did keep me from becoming totally unable to work, but my amalgams were already out and I only had 2 crowns, I gold inlay and 1 root canal, which had an amalgam under the crown too. Sometimes when you least expect it, something wonderful happens.   Kathy Bell

I had a root canal tooth pulled (which had mercury up in the root) and had improvement.  My blood sugar was very unstable and that was one of the things that got quite a bit better and that was noticeable in

the first 24 hrs. after having the tooth pulled.  My energy level, twitching and tremors improved after a while too.  the chemical sensitivity symptoms started around the time I had the root canal done.

Then when I had that root canal tooth pulled my symptoms got better.  Looks like a pattern.

I had my mercury fillings removed as I was going through homeopathic detox which helped a lot, but I still had this strange potassium problem for 3 yrs. I had two cavitations cleaned out (infected bone where wisdom teeth used to be) and I had dramatic change in health in first week. My potassium deficiency disappeared, my libido came back, and now my need for synthroid is decreasing!!!!!! It is hard to believe.    Jeanmarie    www.cfs‑recovery.org/mercury.htm

Many years ago I had wisdom teeth removed. Two weeks in reverse isolation at hospital. Sweeling and pain so bad dr said when it gets to your heart you are dead because we didnt know what was causing it. Finally the bags of pus on my gums broke and the pain instantly went away and then the swelling. Are their any competent dentists out there? patricia cabaniss <patriciacabaniss@yahoo.com>

I am a mercury and lead toxic ex-dental assistant of 19 years. In the beginning we hand mixed the amalgam. I started at age 17 and at age 29 I became pregnant with my son whom from the day he was born had gastrointestinal problems, persistent vomiting & gagging, nightmares, and was shy and very thin. I decided to try detox and approx Sept. of 2000 I learned about NDF and started him on 4-12 drops per day until the half-ounce was gone. What a difference! No more vomiting, nightmares, shyness and he gained 10 lbs. by Nov. 1, 2000         www.cfs‑recovery.org/mercury.htm

Hi Katarina, I read your post about wondering if theres amalgam under

your crown. It happened to me, I don't know why I ever doubted it, all

my fillings were the silver ones.  It turned out the one under the crown

was too, I found out when that tooth got infected and had to be pulled,

it was a root canal tooth.  Shortly after it was pulled, the long time

CFS went away.   I got a little ahead of the story.  In my search for

getting my health back I had all visible amalgams replaced with

composits in 1987. The benefit was the  end of raging candida, but still

had a lot of symptoms until the root canal was pulled.  That was in

January this year.

I’ve had had a really bad sinus infection lately and also a root canal tooth

flare up. My face near my sinuses was in excruciating pain.  It was my 3rd molar in my upper jaw which is connected to the maxillary sinuses.  I'm 26 years old, have some mercury in my mouth, but here's the good news, I just had my root‑canal tooth pulled.  I had a root canal performed 3 years ago that took several times before I couldn't feel it anymore.  Then I had

an apicoectomy because I still had pain,  and 3 days ago I had it pulled and all cleaned out.

Dr. Meinig  referred me to Dr. Robert Kulacz in White Plains, New York.  We live in Pittsburgh so we went to New York to have Kulacz do it.  Dr. Meinig said that Kulacz and Dr. Hussar in Reno were the two best dentists who he trusted could really do the job right.

Dr. Kulacz was wonderful.  He pulled the tooth out in one piece in about 15 minutes.  Then it took him about 45 minutes to scrape out all of the infection in my jaw bone and sockets.  IT was really bad

Dr. Kulacz and Dr. Hussar are co‑writing a book which will soon be published which will detail the proper protocol for having your root canal teeth pulled and how to clean out the site.  This will be great for dentists who desire to learn the protocol and for patients who desire to share the

information with their dentists and/or oral surgeons.

The first thing he did during the exam was to test my two root canals.

They were right off the charts as far as toxicity, and my response to the

toxicity.  They were both passing infection thru my body, accounting for

the fibromyalgia pain .  As soon as he removed the root canal on the right

side of my mouth, the pain just exited my right arm.  As soon as he did the

left one, the pain in my left sciatic nerve.    I had a blood test on

Monday to determine what substances will be compatible with my mouth so he

can replace the other amalgams with the right substance.  I've just begone

the process and I'm totally thrilled and dedicated to being healthy again.

Subject: A recovery story...fibromyalgia

.  I am well on my way to recovery.  About 3 weeks ago I had two root canals removed by Dr. Phillip Memoli in Berkeley Heights.  He is holistic and terrific He tested the two root canals and I was off the charts for mercury toxicity.  The minute the root canals were removed the shooting pain in my left arm left, and hasn't returned since.  Neither has any other fibromyalgia pains.  I am delighted to say the least.  I just had blood work done to determine biocompatibility for the replacement substances. Over the next few months I will have the 6 teeth with amalgams fixed as well.             Linda

Well, I'm only 4 days since they removed 3 of my 5 cavitations . I still have some tatoo crowns. I have lupus and fibromyalgia, and maybe also CFS. Since the surgery, I haven't had any headaches, and I used to get them daily. I used to have these deep knots on my back and neck (very painful). They have disappeared. It's unbelievable! One thing I'm still a little discouraged about, is that my mouth still hurts, but I guess that's understandable.       Amelia.      dental@yahoogroups.com

report on my 2 cavitational surgeries with Dr.Steve Evans, who I think is a great dental surgeon and has helped me greatlyto put me on the road to regain my health. The last 3 years in my life have been pure hell but I believe there is an answer now and I am very hopeful of the future.> > I just want to let people know my fatigue has lifted with this last surgery.  I had a cavitat xray and it was clear that all the teeth on my left side had to be removed.> > I had 3 teeth on the top and one on the bottom removed and the cavitations cleaned.> > The surgery was 6 1/2 hours long. The cavitat also showed severe necrois on the right side as well and it looks like I will lose all on my molars on that side as well. The right side is almost symptomless except for a bit of buggy feeling once in a while . The teeth do not hurt to touch or eat with but I am sure they are all dead. All of my teeth on the left were dead. There was not much necrois under the bottom left tooth that had been next to the metal crown tooth and theroot canaled tooth that had been dealt with in the last surgery but the tooth was> > very infected and dead.  The cavitat showed that the last surgery was sucessful where I had the> metal crown tooth and root canaled tooth. The bone had almost grown back. The top wisdom tooth cavitation site had not healed as well. I believe it was because there were 3 infected teeth and lots of necrois that prevented me from healing the first time. He did that site over as he removed the infected teeth and cleaned the dead infected bone. My top molar had very long roots and was deeply embedded in the my sinuses  and was very infected.> > My face was very swollen after surgery and I had a major headache but no chills or sweats this time. Immediately following the surgery I had 5 bowel movements one right after the other, that were black as the ace of spades and the second time I urinated, it felt like razors blades coming out of me. I suspect it was the toxins.   After the swelling went down, I felt my energy return. I was in Montreal for my blood volume and spect scan test when it happened.> > I stayed next to the hospital with the sisters and the next morning I woke up and said wow, I do not dread to face the day. I knew then that the surgery was needed for me to recover. They are in the process of identifying the pathagens in the cavitation sites. They have identified yeast as one. There are over 200 species of bacteria and mycoplasma is one of them. These bacteria combined with the heavy metals are very dangerous. These bacteria produce very dangerous toxins and are encapsulated so no antibiotic will get rid of them.> > In the next e-mail I will give the report of the enzymes affected with these toxins and the biopsy report.  I use to have frequent migraines and sinus headaches. I have seen major improvement in those.  Marlene Mcfarland      Mmacfar@nbnet.nb.caI had a root canal done on the bottom left, the first big molar. After a while I started  having lots of health problems including bruxism, pains.  My head bothered me every day. I had other health problems that were even worse than the pressure. Aureobasidium Infection of the Jaw.

Koppang HS, Olsen I, Stuge U, Sandven P

Department of Oral Pathology, University of Oslo, Norway.

J Oral Pathol Med  1991 Apr; 20 (4):191-5

A 32-yr-old white North American male resident of Norway presented with an asymptomatic radiolucency first identified 3 yr after the removal of an impacted mandibular right third molar in Southern California 16 yr previously. Surgical exploration revealed an intraosseous cavity filled with a black, homogeneous, gelatinous substance thought to be foreign material, but which was diagnosed histologically as containing black yeasts. Cultivation of a microbiologic sample for 6 wk grew black yeast-like colonies. The yeast isolate was identified as an  Aureobasidium  species different from the typical  A. pullulans . A blood samplewas negative with regard to antibodies both with double diffusion technique and ELISA. Also, examination with respect to dermatologic manifestations gave negative results. Flucytocin 10 g/d was administered systemically for 30 d. Six months postoperatively bone regeneration was satisfactory radiologically.

I was totally disabled with chronic fatigue, pain, pressure in my head, and other problems.

It was hard to have any hope left, it was hard to believe that I would ever be anything but sick andwishing to die. The dentist did not want to pull my root-canaled tooth, he told me I wasgoing to miss that tooth. It has been 8 years, I have never missed that tooth. The very moment the tooth came out the pressure that I felt in my head, which felt like my head was going to explode, was GONE. When I got home, I didn't go to bed, the chronic fatigue was so much better, I didntjust lay around anymore, I got energy back and over the next few months, I got better and better. It was so unbelievable that I was afraid it wouldn't last. At 30 I felt like I had one foot in the grave, at 41, the difference is amazing. I never dreamed I would ever feel like I do today. My 28 year old daughter was suffering from chronic fatigue and neurological problems.   She had a large load of Hg, 6 osteonecrotic cavitations , and neurological symptoms that started to mimic MS or ALS. We found some MD's and a fabulous dentist who knew what they were doing.  I am happy to say that she is now healthy, happy, Hg free, cavitational =free, and was married two weeks ago to a wonderful man who stuck by her during all her years =of sickness.      Karen, RN   Dave <dave.p@ABTS.NET> &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I have long had chronic health problems .   The first symptoms were: facial pain, recurring infections (ears, sinus, throat), swollen and throbbing neck glands, burning gums and throat, throbbing gums. Then it gradually escalated to total brain fog (couldn't even balance my check book or carry on a conversation), severe and continuous infections, loss of balance, tremors, dropping things, falling down , running into walls, difficulty talking and intermittent facial paralysis. I tested positive for Lupus but had no symptoms of Lupus, was diagnosed with hypoglycemia and candida, serious food allergies, nothing that would explain the severe symptoms. Doctors suspected MS, possibly a stroke, but when my symptoms got really bad , I was not interested in doing another battery of tests to get diagnosed with something they couldn't cure anyway. I was racing for my life and I was only interested in finding the CAUSE.

I found a MD in St Louis who did EAV testing; his EAV test showed a strong dental connection.

After researching this I saw a dentist who said I needed to do extract most of my teeth since most had root canals as well as amalgam.    I had root canal teeth extracted and after tests found cavitations I had surgery.  The cavitation surgeries helped in several ways. The first thing I noticed was that my sinuses started to clear up afer I had the upper right and left surgeries. After each one, for about 10 days, I had very "nasty" nasal discharges. I assume this was my sinuses cleaning themselves out. I used to be on antibiotics year around for sinus infections. I have not had a sinus infection in several months now, they stopped immediately after the upper surgeries. I also used to have constant facial pain in the front (on each side of the nose) and in the molar area on both sides. Interestingly, the location of the pain corresponded with previous extraction sites or root canal sites. After each cavitational surgery, the pain in that site went away. I had my last surgery 3 weeks ago on the upper front. I have ZERO pain now. What a relief !!    Martine Davis   " tartineauchocolat " <martine@airinspector.com>            &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I was really in bad condition before I had my cavitation surgery, and the cavitat showed lots of problems.   I requested the biopsy mostly to have some hard evidence for my insurancecompany because I knew it was going to be difficult to get payment on this. After several appeals I finally got payment from my insurance on a portionof the cost. The dental portion covered the extraction and the medicalportion covered the cavitation surgery. Since the cavitation surgery is nowa FDA approved procedure, all I had to do was convince my insurance companythat it was not a dental procedure but a medical procedure related to thebone . Just because the affected bone was in my mouth didn't necessarily makeit a dental thing. It was a battle and took many phone calls and appeals. Iknow of another person who's insurance covered up to $2200 for each surgery. My insurance allowed $1600 out of $3300 and I am appealing thatdetermination . I had cavitation surgery done in White Plains, NY. I live in Louisville, KY and after doing a lot of checking decided on Dr. Kulacz in White Plains.   First of all he had me mail him my panorex x-rays and he talked to me on the  phone . He asked if there wasn't someone in my area that could do this surgery and I said no. I knew I had a cyst on the pulp of a tooth but I  didn't tell him. He is the only dentist that saw this by the x-ray and told  me this tooth wld have to be removed. He could also tell that I needed the  cavitation surgery by the x-ray.  He saw two areas that needed cavitational cleaning and one tooth to be removed. He told me on the phone he would be charging me $5000 and if more was to be done there wld be no additional charge. When I went to NY he used a machine to test for dead teeth and found another tooth that needed to be removed. So, he removed two teeth and cleaned upper  and bottom caviational sites. The bottom area (old jaw teeth that had been removed years ago) was the largest cavitational site. On the upper area, a root canal tooth that had been removed (last year) he found the tip still in the bone and removed and cleaned out this entire bone area including the other tooth removed and cleaned. The $5000 included the nurse assistant, the Anesthesiologist and the biopsy report sent to Dr. Bouquot in WV and all of Dr. Kulacz's services. He also said if I had any problem with anything (which he didn't expect me to) that he wld not charge me. He was really giving me a guarantee. This was done a year ago this month. My head/neck pain went away and has never returned.   The reason for the biopsy report is to tell you what kind of inflammatory cells are in that area and making sure there is no evidence of malignancy. I can not say enough good things. He is a true professional and yet takes all the time in the world to talk to you on the phone and answer all your questions.   He now has a web site and has written a book on the subject.   If you are interested and want any more info, let me know.      Eileen  afigue402@aol.com &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&Hi, I just wanted to ad that I had my amalgams replaced with composits (13 of them) all were in the teeth that get the most impact from chewing. I think mine lasted as long or longer than my old amalgams because over the years a lot of those amalgams had to be made bigger and bigger. I am very pleased with mine. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& When I was a teenager I developed major anxiety problems. The only thing that helped me with my anxiety/shakes was alcohol . I was  sent to alcohol detox for four weeks, just six months after I turned 21.   I stopped drinking alcohol, but the anxiety and shakes never went away until  I got my fillings out....fifteen years later. For me, it was an abdominal xray showing metallic foreign bodies in my  appendix , and then doing my own research that convinced me.   Without that abdominal xray , I would have NEVER guessed the dental metals in  my mouth were making me so sick!  I think a lot of alcholics or problem drinkers are really just self-medicating. They are probably just reacting to the metals in their mouths! It's a shame .... soeasily treatable at that stage....   Dana Herbert <herbertdana@EARTHLINK.NET>&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Subject: CFS, Cavitation Surgery, NanobacteriaRecently I had my 4th quadrant surgery for Cavitations . I had known previous to that that I had Nanobacteria infection and had started the NanobacTX and been on it for 3 months. This time 2 bone samples were sent off to MDL. Both were positive for Nanobacteria by PCR. I had had very large caviations in all 4 quadrants and I believe that all would have had Nano in, as the Histological picture of all sites was the same.I have had Hypercoagulation and severe CFS for 9 years. I have been on Heparin for 15 months without any real benefit. Since the final surgery my Fibrinogen levels have started to fall and I have been able to reduce the Heparin. I will have to stay on the NanobcTX for 9-12months.I am cautiosly oprimistic !  My CFS doctor is working with 4 dentists in Kansas City and is finding a lot of Nano in the dental biopsies of her very sick patients. Also she is finding nanobacteria and hypercoagulation in a high percentage of Fibromyalgia patients. Cleaning out the cavitations , treating with heparin and nanobacTX has been VERY successful.Anne (Montreal)  "salc2414 " <johnu@total.net>                                            Lookup about Nanobacteria ( www.Nanobac.com ) and Hypercoagulation ( www.Hemex.com ). Most of the work that has been done on Nanobacteria has been by the Cardiologists, but Nano is also found in dental pulp stones and is recovered from Cavitation sites. Dr Carolann Ryser is in Kansas City......... She is treating CFS/Fibromyalgia patients with dental issues. If not, could you take the info to your dentist and have him test you for nanobacteria and Hypercoagulation? I had my PCR tests for nano done at Medical Diagnostics Lab in NewJersey . Anne

After 3 years of going to GYN's I was finally diagnosed by the last one, as having Vulvodynia. The doctor told me there was no cure for it, I would always have it, that they could treat it, then got up and left the room.   Well his treatments gave me no relief. But having the root canal pulleddid , pulling the root canal, cured the incurable disease, plus cured many other things that were wrong with me, for which I am very thankful.

I only had one root canal, but I felt different before I left the dentist office. The pressure in my head was gone.   I had chronic fatigue which I saw immediate improvement in that. Some things like my bones aching and muscles sore, being bloated some things took longer to see major improvement or complete improvement.  Some things took weeks some months and some little things I never got rid of, but I did not have the jawbone surgery which I believe I need. On panoramic xray you can see the complete outline of the root canal tooth and there is a ridge sticking out of the gum that came up after the tooth was pulled. Sometimes the jawbone itches and down my neck, and sometimes I can still feel just a little fluid in my ear. But the little things I live with now are nothing in comparison to what I lived with while I had the root canal, but I do believe with all my heart that I would not have these little things wrong if I'd never had the root canal. I did take herbs for theimmune system to try to help my body get better."Melanie " <kyarbrough@charter.net>**********************************************************

I just wanted to report that since removing the three cracked root canals I had in my lower jaw....and after just eleven days on a very strict Gerson Therapy regime, including two coffee enemas per day (three on weekends), to flush the toxins out of my system, I am doing MUCH better! I am able to get through the day without a single nap now!Another unexpected perk....that horrible whitish/yellow coating on my tongue that has plagued me for some time is completely GONE now! My tongue looks like a 10 year olds tongue now ....nice and PINK! It's beautiful! I keep sticking my tongue out in the mirror and admiring it! Dana Herbert <herbertdana@earthlink.net>

Frank: I had written to you about candida several times. I just wanted to tell you what has helped my health immensely. DDS said it did not reach into sinuses, and I know you suffer with sinuse stuff; perhaps this is your answer. Please read, "Whole Body Dentistry" by Mark Breimer DDS. and read chapter on cavitations especially. Good luck. Jeanmarie     www.cfs‑recovery.org/mercury.htm

Interestingly enough, I see that some endodontists are now giving "informed consent" when it comes to root canals. They are warning patients that there is a 5-10% chance of fracture. I think this is a good thing, because while all root canals are a health burden, fractured root canals can be very detrimental to your health. Most patients are totally unaware that they have a fractured root canal and it may takes years for them to discover it and regain their health!             I just had my second root canal out, #13. It is the first time in 20 yearsthat I can actually breathe through my left sinus! I had #30 out two weeks ago, and now I can breathe through my nose again! I used to be a mouth breather!            I have four more root canals to go. Just getting rid of the two so far has made a tremendous difference ....particularly #30. What I like about getting root canals removed is that there is a very rapid improvement in the areas affected by it's meridians ....versus removing amalgam and maybe even getting worse before getting better through chelation.       You won't believe your eyes when you SEE the tooth after it is removed ....all green and slimy and if you get close enough and take a whiff, you will smell the hydrogen sulfides in it....they smell like rotten eggs!         It is nice to come home and lay on the sofa and visualize the blood flow returning to the organs and to your jawbone, and the ROT gone from your mouth. Just seeing one of these teeth pulled will be enough to prompt you toget them all out as soon as possible!        I think the hydrogen sulfides caused my cerebral edema/cerebellar herniationand olfactory inflammation (which is not a "lipoma" according to new neurology reports ....but nobody could seem to figure out WHAT is was or what was causing it. And if they did know, they certainly did not share that information with me!).  These hydrogen sulfides leak out into your jawbone and cause periodontal  disease , and are then very difficult to eradicate. If you have a horizontal fracture at the gumline in a root canalled tooth, you will breathe these gases in and could end up with brain damage like I did! So it is VERY important to re- xray a tooth soon after getting a bridge installed ....bridges in particular can easily cause a horizontal crack in a root canalled tooth if they have post and cores on both ends. My dentist did not re- xrays the teeth in my bridge until a year and a half later. Then, it took me another two years to figure out the tooth was cracked, because I paid out of pocket for the bridge since it was not covered by my insurance, and I guess she didn't want to tell me the tooth would have to be extracted, and refund me my money for the bridge.         If you want to see how loaded up you are with root canal toxins, get an arterial blood gas done. High carboxyhemoglobin levels mean high root canal toxins in your bloodstream. My levels were 4.4 last summer. I thought my house had a carbon monoxide leak in it, and even changed my muffler system on my car. Four weeks ago, my carboxyhemoglobin levels were 4.3. This was after two of my root canals were re-root canalled, so it dropped by just . 1.Then I was told that one of the teeth that was re-root canalled was bad, and leaking root canal toxins, so I had it pulled. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!   I will re-check my carboxyhemoglobin levels soon and update you on the results.        When I consulted with two oral surgeon two weeks later, I was told that tooth #30 was causing my health problems, because it was fractured and cracked. They also told me that a root canalled third molar, #32, was probably fractured because, even though it looks good on the panorex , I have had it for eight years and it has never been crowned. They told me thatpulling that one was optional, and all the other root canals were good.            Yesterday, I saw my dentist to prepare for an upper bridge that was removed two weeks ago and had a tooth that he re-root canalled. He was also going to extract #32. Instead, I had him pull #13 and prepare for a 4-unit bridge, to be on the safe side. Boy, am I glad I did that just in time, before spending $2400 on a bridge that I would later want to remove again anyhow! Of course, the dentist tried to talk me out of it, telling me the root canal was good, and now had a fiberglass post & core, instead of a nickel post and core, and said I'd feel a bigger improvement by extracting #32....but #32 is not under a very expensive bridge....I can pull it anytime I want. In fact, since my next dental appointment is in three weeks, I am just going to go to everywalk -in dental clinic I can find tomorrow until I find one that will extract #32 for me without having to go through a big song and dance about how I believe in biological dentistry, and have them roll their eyes, or pretend that I am in "acute" pain. It would be nice if you could just walk into one of these places and say "Here's $100, just pull this tooth for me, and don'task me any questions. Thank you." But they all taught to "save a tooth at any cost". It just goes against their training. I know that this is changing ....but it is still rampant in the dental industry.I think that when it comes to root canals, they should be viewed only as a temporary solution to get you out of immediate pain, and only for teeth that would leave you looking silly if you pulled it....i.e., a front tooth, until you can afford to pull it and put a bridge in. There is no need to rootcanal large double rooted back teeth at all. You can't see them anyhow ....just pull them. And then put a bridge in later for chewing purposes, if having a hole there bothers you that much!Dana Herbert <herbertdana@earthlink.net>

I know of several people who were cured of  chronic hives  by having there healthy looking root canals removed. Incredible. I don't really know what the other options are aside from extracting bad teeth. I had one extracted and it was psychologically damaging to me, but not as bad as the pain I had with that bad root canal. I used to come home and cry from pain. After pulling it, I still had pain--- which appears to have gone into remission after a 3 week course of Clindamycin and then I had the problem of crying b/c I was toothless. It still bothers me to be missing a tooth, but I would rather not have that bad tooth in my mouth. I know you all say implants are bad, but I am going for it next year. I will see what happens. If I do have ill health from it then I will just have to remove that as well.   Susan <susanl95@yahoo.com>*************************************************

Subject: re: TOPAS test results

What percent of root-canaled teeth tested test toxic?

Are you talking about bacteria, bacteria toxins, enzyme effects, toxins?

_______________

I have not tested enough teeth for statistical significance but I believe 25-33% would be a reasonable figure. Yes they are testing for toxins, see the TOPAS site for details:
