Toxicology Program finds Cellphones Associated with Cancer (Rat Studies)
NTP
conducted toxicology research in both rats and mice to determine possible
health hazards, with a key harm examined being cancer. This work focused on 2G
and 3G radiation levels as they were standard when the studies were designed
and are still used for phone calls and texting. According to the pamphlet, in
2018, NTP finished its studies which it asserts are the most comprehensive look
at the health of animals exposed to RFR. The research found:
Clear
evidence of an association with [malignant schwannomas] tumors in the hearts of
male rats.
Some evidence of an association with tumors in the brains of male rats, specifically malignant gliomas. The brain cancer seen was like that found in some studies involving heavy cellphone use in humans .
Some
evidence of an association with tumors in the adrenal glands of male rats. The
tumors were benign, malignant, or complex combined pheochromocytoma.
Another problem found is that the research discovered that RFR was
associated with DNA damage, which can lead to cancer. Particularly, significant
damage to DNA was found in the frontal cortex in the brain of
male mice
,
the blood cells of female mice, and the hippocampus of male rats.
The NTP research did not look at Wi-Fi, 4G, or 5G technologies.

minutes per day over a 10-year period, is associated with a statistically
significant 60% increase in brain cancer.]
